The Victorian Energy Upgrade (VEU) scheme was established under the Victorian Energy Efficiency Target Act 2007 and commenced on 1 January 2009. The VEU scheme is designed to make energy efficiency improvements more affordable, contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gases, and encourage investment, employment and innovation in industries that supply energy efficiency goods and services. Victorian Energy Efficiency Certificate or VEEC is an electronic certificate created in accordance with the Victorian Energy Upgrade scheme. Each VEEC represents one tonne of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2-e) abated by specified energy saving activities known as prescribed activities.
The Energy Savings Scheme (ESS) reduces electricity consumption in NSW by creating financial incentives for organizations to invest in energy savings projects. Energy savings are achieved by installing, improving or replacing energy savings equipment.
The Energy Savings Scheme is governed by NSW legislation. It places a mandatory obligation on Scheme Participants to obtain and surrender energy savings certificates, which represent energy savings. The Renewable Energy Target (RET) is an Australian Federal Government scheme designed to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases in the electricity sector and encourage the additional generation of electricity from sustainable and renewable sources. Small-Scale Technology Certificates or STCs, are a tradeable certificate attached to eligible installations of renewable energy systems (including solar panels, solar water heaters, and heat pumps).
Large-Scale Generation Certificate or LGC is an electronic form of certificate created in the REC Registry by eligible entities. One LGC is equivalent to 1 MWh of eligible renewable electricity generated above the power station’s baseline.
